My name is Janel Van Beek, and I DBA as Francie Van Wirkus LLC. I am an executive and life coach. I help people build resilience, and grow to reach their full potential in business and life. I do this through leadership development workshops and training, and supplemental, individual coaching. After working with me, leaders become more connected to their families, and better able to lead others to the best possible outcomes. I am a yoga instructor and endurance athlete. I have raced nine Ironman triathlons and many other middle distance events.

I apply the following true leadership constructs to my daily work:

  • What vs. how

  • The psychology of meeting people where they are

  • Developing a generative, continuous learning mindset

  • Lean leader standard work

    • Go and see where value is added

    • Connect people to vision

    • Coaching and mentoring team members to solve problems

    • Manage flow of value from start to customer use

    • Reflection on how to continuously improve

  • Culture is an outcome of environment and organizational change

Lessons Learned as Lean-Agile Leader

Spending time personally interacting with my stakeholders and teams has given me a deeper view into the work being done by teams. With a stronger connection to the work, teams can quickly illuminate the impediments and opportunities where I can help them.

Spending time relentlessly sharing my vision gives teams context and clarity needed to work in a way that offers the maximum value to the customer.

Reflecting on how to continuously improve my mindset enables me to experiment with different approaches to how I lead and how I remove barriers, and seek out opportunities.

Culture change only happens after changes in the organization’s environment are made, such as management behaviors, how work is funded, reward systems, and how many number one priorities exist.
